Join representatives from East Portland school districts at a neighborhood forum to talk about the unique issues facing our public schools. Oregon Superintendent of Public Instruction Susan Castillo will be leading a diverse panel (made up of representatives from each of our East Portland school districts, including Parkrose and Centennial Superintendents Dr. Karen Gray and Dr. Bob McKean) to focus on topics such as new high school graduation requirements and funding for all day kindergarten. Ask questions, share your ideas, and participate in a community discussion working to improve education in East Portland.

John KitzhaberOverflow Crowd for Health Care Town Hall with Gov. Kitzhaber

Thank you for making the town hall with Gov. John Kitzhaber a great success! After a thought-provoking health care policy presentation by Gov. Kitzhaber, Jefferson (Phil Donahue) Smith moderated the discussion. Gov. Kitzhaber, joined by Maribeth Healey and Dr. Evan Saulino, answered health care questions from an overflow room of more than 80 people. Attendees could also hear from one of our surprise guests: current District 47 Representative and Speaker of the Oregon House, Jeff Merkley.

Afterwards, canvassers posed for a picture with Governor Kitzhaber and knocked on hundreds of doors and received enough signatures to help ensure Jefferson’s place on the primary election ballot in May. Volunteer now.

Barbara RobertsThank you to everyone who joined us and braved “The Storm of the Decade” on December 2nd.

You joined over 40 other attendees and saw Gov. Barbara Roberts kick off our effort to get Jefferson on the ballot via petition. With the help of more than a dozen people braving the weather we started our signature collecting canvasses. In the first month we have collected over 200 signatures.

Thanks for all your help and don’t miss your chance to be part of a different kind of campaign. Volunteer now.
